Kalanchoe

Kalanchoes are mainly native to tropical and subtropical Africa and Madagascar, with groups also spread through the Americas, China, India and Malaya. There are about 150 species.Kalanchoes are small shrubs, the brightly coloured leaves often covered in wax, hair or white powder (farina). They range in size from small leafy succulent ground covers like Kalanchoe pumila to tree like shrubs such as Kalanchoe beharensis. Most are grown for their foliage but also produce tubular or bell shaped flowers ranging from white and yellow to purple and red. Kalanchoes need good drainage and full sun or partial shade and protection from heavy frost. They make good container plants.
